“ I have passed this building for years and never paid attention to what was inside. I wont make that mistake again! What this deli lacks in genteel atmosphere, it more than makes up for in friendly service and terrific food! Dont miss the chopped liver!!! ”
“ Was driving by at just past 10 am with a hungry belly, figured Why not, its Friday. 2 very nice ladies were behind the counter, and a few folks in line. I was asked if I was ready to order, and was let known breakfast or lunch is not a problem. I went with the Mixed Marriage sandwich. This beauty had the meats, brisket, bacon, ham, and some veggies with a horseradish sauce on an onion roll. Sandwich was a thing of beauty, well made, not too messy, and quality ingredients in proper proportions. The only critique I have is the pickle was a bit lack luster. I wish I took a picture, but I wasnt expecting a sandwich with brisket to be that good at 10am. I plan to stop and try more specialty sandwiches if I am in the area again, and recommend anyone reading this review do the same. Evans Deli has the meats! ”
“ I am over the top to find high quality pastrami that can compete with a NY deli. Their Romanian pastrami is great tender and flavorful. Lots of accompaniments, rolls, rye bread to round it out. You can get a sandwich or order cold cuts to go. Small take out with a few tables. Trust me on the pastrami! ”
“ We went here because they were close to our new home, and we were not disappointed. They gave us some great sandwiches and great knishes. The owner was also friendly and welcoming. If you havent tried Evans, I would recommend giving them a shot. Because its definitely a local landmark! ”

“ Spectacular Sandwiches Reubans were spectacular. So delicious. Later that night we had two sandwiches that we saved for next day a turkey and pastrami they we unbelievably great. The girls behind counter were a pleasure. Evan you have a great business here. Cant wait to return. While I waited I had a bagel ....so good !!! Ten stars to you all !!!!! ”
“ Oh ... my .... Goodness!!! We treated ourselves to a morning delivery of bagels and knishes and it was amazingly good!!! If you havent tried their or anyones knishes, you really should treat yourselves. I had the pastrami knish and the brisket knish. Both are delicious fistfuls of classic NY Deli meats in a light pastry basically its handheld beef bbq without the sauce. Such a luxury! Evans is now our go to for delicious deli on the North Shore! Also a big shout out to Salem 104.9 FM for broadcasting from Evans NY Deli over the holidays that how I learned about this great deli just a few blocks from the MHD historic district ”
“ Ordered a reuben. Biggest, most delicious sandwich ever. And thank heavens they used Russian, not thousand island. They were busy, phone ringing, people in line. But the guy behind the counter kept it moving. Super courteous, with amazing food. I wish I lived closer to Marblehead! ”
